BREAKING NEWS;20TH AUGUST 2024:PRESIDENT TINUBU CONSIDERS FRANK MBA,THREE OTHERS FOR IGP AS EGBETUKU NEARS RETIREMENT.

Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is reportedly weighing options for the next Inspector General of Police (IGP) as the current IGP, Kayode Egbetuku, prepares to retire on September 4th, 2024, when he turns 60. Among the top contenders being considered for the role is Frank Mba, a senior police officer with a notable track record in law enforcement.

Sources close to the presidency indicate that President Tinubu is also evaluating three other senior officers for the crucial position, though their identities have not yet been disclosed. This decision comes as the nation looks toward ensuring continuity and enhanced security across the country.

IGP Egbetuku, who has served in various capacities within the Nigeria Police Force, is expected to hand over the reins after a career spanning decades. The upcoming appointment is crucial as Nigeria faces ongoing security challenges, including insurgency, banditry, and other forms of criminality.

The final decision is expected to be made shortly before Egbetuku’s official exit, as the country anticipates a seamless transition in the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force
